The Yemeni rial is the currency for Yemen.

The currency code for the Yemeni rial is YER. The currency symbol used is ﷼.

The Yemeni rial was first seen at the end of the 20th century as the North Yemeni rial. In 1990, the Yemen Arab Republic and the People’s Democratic Republic of Yemen unified and used both northern rial and the southern dinar as legal tender.

In 1996 the dina was withdrawn from circulation and the Yemeni rial was made the currency for the Republic of Yemen.
