The Turkish New lira – now known as the Turkish lira – is the currency for Turkey and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.

The currency code for the Turkish New lira is TRY. The currency symbol used is ₺.

The first Turkish lira was seen in 1923 replacing the Ottoman lira.

In 2005, the Turkish new lira was introduced and replaced the old lira. In 2009 the ‘new’ was removed from the currency’s name.
