The Lewes Pound is a local non legal tender currency introduced in 2008 for the town of Lewes in the UK that can be used in approximately 130 shops in Lewes. The aim of the local currency is to stimulate spending in the town and boost the local economy. The Lewes pound is the same value of pound sterling but some shops will charge lower prices for the Lewes pound.
