The Nuevo Peso is the currency for Argentina. It was pegged to the value of the US dollar at a rate of 1:1 from 1992 until 2001.

The currency code for the Nuevo Peso is ARS, formerly ARF, ARG, ARM, ARL, ARP and ARA.

As with previous Argentinian currencies, when the Nuevo Peso was floated from 2002 it lost about 75% of its value, which was very good for making its imports more competitive.
